Goals
- Create 3D images and video using a single depth camera.
- Utilize depth information to create a 3D easily viewable scene.
Zcam- Depth Camera
- Developed by 3DV Systems.
- Based on time-of-flight concept.
- The emitted infrared light is reflected back to the camera. If the object is close, more light will arrive at the sensor.
- Produces 2 images:
RGBD - RGB image+ Depth image:the gray level of each pixel is derived from the object’s distance from the camera.
Anaglyph 3D viewing method
- The left and right eye images are superimposed.
- A color filter over each eye only transmits the image component suitable for that eye.
- These images are then combined in the brain to give the perception of a 3D scene.
Algorithm
- Projection of the image to 3D space and back to a translated and rotated image plane.
- distance between cameras (artificial images) is set to the distance between eyes (6.5cm).
- The angle between image is a parameter which could be optimized for better view.
Demonstration
User Friendly Interface
- The user friendly GUI allows the average user to load a saved Zcam output file, and create the Anaglyph image.
- By selecting parameters, optimizing the rendered 3D image, is easy.
- allows a range of options : RGB/grayscale. Angle modification methods for movies. Single/dual image creation. alteration of depth image.
