Hybrid Imaging Laboratory

The Hybrid Imaging Lab is headed by Dr. Schechner in the Dept. Elect. Eng., Technion. In addition to the research staff, undergraduate students perform projects in conjunction to the research activity, and conduct programming projects to control hardware. Field experiments (particularly underwater) are performed by graduate and undergraduate students.

The lab possesses professional scuba diving equipment, as well as high end equipment for underwater photography. Placed by the Electrooptic Center of the Department, the lab has optical tables, motorized stages and a wealth of optical and optomechanical components.

The lab also has a Zeiss Axiovert 200M MAT microscope, with accompanying light sources. One of the sources is an OptiQuip stabilized Xe source, coupled to the microscope via a fiber-optic scrambler. This is in addition to PCs, typical to any computer vision lab. Custom structures are frequently made for the lab by the machine and electronic workshop of the EE Dept. The lab is using external contractors for building some specialized hardware.
