High-resolution, real-time 3D shape modeling for dynamically deformable objects has a huge potential for applications in many areas, including entertainment, security, design and manufacturing. In this project we investigate a 3D shape modeling system developed by Dr. Song Zhang from the Stony brook University (Mentioned in the article “High-resolution, Real-time 3-D Shape Measurement”). This system is based on digital fringe projection and phase shifting techniques. In this system a 3D object is constructed using a camera, a computer and a digital projector. Trough out the project we have constructed the system and implemented the basic algorithms behind it in a MATLAB environment. We also tested its reliability precision and accuracy, and checked the possibility of real-time implementation.
