As you know I am now in New Zealand, enjoying this wonderful country. I left you with my last depressing email where I dislocated my shoulder and visited the christchurch hospital. I am happy to say that my shoulder is all right and has undergone some real-life testing. It is still connected... After recovering from the injury, I went to a town called Fox Glacier. It is named like that because the Fox Glacier is near it... These New-Zealanders have such an imagination for names! Over there I took a helicopter ride to land just above a glacier, and even walked around a little. Yes, it was darn freezing. A few days later I went to the Milford Sound, where I took an overnight cruise to the sound. The cruise was great, as a local musician was on board, and he played his guitar. I then joined with a little piano, and it was very entertaining. Then I decided I should do some real testing for my shoulder, so I went on the Kepler Track. This track is usually done in 3-4 days. The weather on the first day was so good (only little rain, and with visability!) so I continued walking the part of the second day, totalling 35km and climbing up and down 1.4km. Of course it rained after I continued... In the same spirit I combined the third and fourth days, to total 23km. This track was nice, but not too beautiful. Next, I went on to do a day-walk in the routbern key-summit. The views were great, probably the best I have ever seen. There I met a very nice couple of Israelis, Moshe and Rachel. They were intending on doing the Milford Track two days afterwards, but unfortunantly for moshe, he had a bad knee. As a result I got myself a ticket to the Milford Track - People book it for these dates many months in advance. The Milford Track was a beautiful track, but a little over-hyped if you ask me. I think there are other very nice walks in New Zealand, so don't believe people when they tell you that this is "The finest walk in the world". The third day of the track had a steep descent, that even gave me a bad knee, so moshe, you made the right choice! After the track I went to see some yellow-eyed penguins, and albatrosses. A big attraction afterwards was swimming with the dolphins - AMAZING!!! You basically go out to the open sea to swim with wild dolphins. They like humans very much, and they are very friendly. They swim around you, race you, and jump in the air. After swimming with the dolphins, still on the boat, we could see about 100 dolphins swimming beside the boat, jumping around. I enjoyed it very much, except for the fact that at this stage I was filling a bucket with the contents of my stomache... Still on the same day, I took some flying lessons on a Cessna C150. Aparrently I LOVE FLYING!!!! YYYEEEEHHHEEEYYY!!!! The three lessons were so good that I took even more on the next day. My favorite part is when the airplane stalls!! In order to fix the impression I had on rafting since peru, i went on a grade V river rafting near christchurch. It was very nice - the water was clean, and guess what else?? No mosquitos!!! So... That's all for now, Next email from Brazil. what? Next email from Brazil. what? what? SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, my flight out of New Zealand is tomorrow morning, heading for south america. Sorry Shpigelman, no diving course in thailand... Don't get me wrong, I am having fun here in New Zealand. It is just that, well, I don't know how to put it in words. Let me try. Maybe a word that would fit would be BORING! Can't you see, these people invented almost every kind of attraction because they have nothing to do! They are bored to death in their cities and towns, as there is no real culture to enjoy. Because I do not consider beer as culture, I got bored pretty fast from this place. There is nothing new in this place that can be offered to the tourists, except for the nice views and attractions. Well, I had enough of it this month... I want a different kind of culture than the western one. A different language, different values, different behavior, in short: salsa! Add to that the awful weather that I had this month until I decided that I want to leave. Since my decision the weather turned sunny :) It took me alot of time to decide, but I am sure it is the right choice. I will be going to the carnaval in brazil, maybe in the city of Recife. Anyway, attached to this email are two pictures from argentina and about 18 from New Zealand. Isn't the picture of the argentinan police lovely?? Notice the gas masks :) Enjoy! See ya soon!
